DataDot Technology SA partnered with Afri Training Institute; our training provider based in Cape Town to place eight learners to be hosted at various Employers for the National Certificate: Production Technology Learnership-SAQA ID: 58781 learnership work-based learning programme.

The Learnership work-based programme leads to an NQF registered qualification and was introduced to assist skilled learners gain on-the job experience. Learnerships are managed by the Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs). For a learner to successfully complete their learnership programme, there are practical elements that they need to complete as part of their course, one being employed by an employer for the duration of their learnership programme.

The eight learners that DataDot Technology SA along with Afri Training placed in the Cape Town Region are adding to their skill set in various industries.

Adan Dixon training in Material Development at Afri Training, who would like to one day develop properties and resell then or rent them out. Adan has learnt quite a number of skills which will enable him to acquire his Project Manager Certificate.

Faith Ncomgca aspires to be in Quality Assurance and is currently getting her on-the job experience. Faith would like to advise people to take their chance in learnership opportunities which has taught her how to handle projects.

Irvin Ntsibantsiba has faced challenges of travelling to and from his on-the job training waiting long hours at times, but he is determined to get his Project Management training.  Irvin owns a Construction Company which he hopes will help his community by creating employment and improve their lives.

Jonathan Swanepoel would like to own his own business in future and this opportunity has allowed him to see things from a different perspective.  Jonathan is acquiring skills in Quality Controller Assurance and assists with Operations. Although faced with transport challenges, he would advise his peers that the learnership provides the opportunity to gain an understanding of the workplace.

Lenezia Baatjies is a Marketing student and hopes to one day be a Project Manager and the exposure to the industry will add value in the career field that she will find herself in. Lenezia overcomes some of her financial challenges of transportation by budgeting and finding ways to make extra money on the side.

Nthabeleng Doda aspires to become an Accounts Manager and ultimately a Brand Manager of one of the leading brands. Nthabeleng has learnt how to persevere and multi-task and that anything is possible when you put your mind to it. Her advise to her peers is to never give up on their dreams and to pursue what they love.

Nur Jacobs aspires to one day be a CEO either in electronics or sports industry. Nur has learnt a lot about planning and structure, which can be applied both at work and in life, results will come after you have executed your plan.

Shaneez Myburgh has always wanted to become a Lawyer and is currently getting her learnership on the job training as a Litigation Secretary. The opportunity means more doors will open when applying for jobs. Shaneez has learnt that one is never too old to pursue any career and that they can make it a success.

It is inspiring to see how learnership work-based programmes assists in preparing individuals for their careers and learning not only about the work environment but about personal goals and overcoming challenges. We are proud of each learner, and we wish them the best of luck on their journey, and we believe that their efforts will bear fruits.
