DataDot Technology SA’s recycle and reuse initiative
In recognition and support of Global Recycling Day on 18 March 2022, DataDot Technology SA contributed towards this initiative through the ongoing recycling and reusing of paper.
“Global Recycling Day was created in 2018 to help recognize, and celebrate, the importance recycling plays in preserving our precious primary resources and securing the future of our planet. It is a Day for the world to come together, and put the planet first.” https://www.awarenessdays.com/awareness-days-calendar/global-recycling-day-2022/
At DataDot Technology all waste is viewed as a recycling opportunity once all possibilities of reusing have been investigated. In our recent major clean-up operation, thousands of old documentations were shredded and recycled. The paper folder files that were still in peak condition were donated to creches in our local community to reuse. The folders would either be for the children or the creche to use when doing arts and crafts projects. DataDot Technology SA donated a total of 10 200 paper folders in equal share to three Day Care Centres namely: Happy Feet located in George CBD; Kekkel & Kraai Playground in Borchards and Future Stars in Conville. Supporting and investing in our local communities is one of our Core Values.
Did you know that Paper accounts for around 26% of total waste at landfills? https://www.theworldcounts.com/stories/paper-waste-facts . By donating these files, our contribution to help save the environment was the equivalent of 8 trees (350kg of paper folders). Paper production causes deforestation and uses enormous amounts of energy and water and contributes to air pollution as well as waste problems.
As the only microdot manufacturer with ISO14001 certification, we continuously strive to improve our processes with the intention to reduce our impact on the environment, in 2022 one of our main initiatives is paper saving. We would like to encourage our followers to join us in this quest.
Recycle. Reuse. Reduce.
