Do Not Steal A Taxi Fitted With Dot Muti!
October 2006

South Africa has one of highest statistics of vehicle theft. But with the introduction of Datadot vehicle protection and identification dots technology, It has become difficult for criminals to steal and sell vehicles without having them positively identified by their rightful owners.

According to Andy Blew, Datadot managing director, his company has successfully helped taxi operators identify their stolen vehicles.

"A taxi owner contacted the police saying that he suspected that a vehicle that he had seen was indeed his hijacked vehicle. The vehicle now looked very different! It was freshly painted and had a new registration. The owner was convinced however that it was his Sinaya. The police inspected the vehicle and told the complainant that it had none of the original markings. In fact, three taxi operators said that it was indeed their vehicle. All original markings such as the VIN and engine number were either altered, damaged or removed entirely." Blew added: "the complainant said that his taxi was fitted with DataDot. Even though the thieves tried very hard to cover up all traces of DataDot, many DataDots were found in several locations. The dots were checked and it was found that the Siyaya did indeed belong to the complainant. Four persons were immediately arrested."

The police said much effort had been made to try to remove or hide the DataDots.

He said it is impossible to remove all 10 000 microdots without severely damaging the vehicle. Only 10% of the dots are visible to persons trying to remove them. The rest sprayed in many different places throughout the vehicle.

A thief would need to cut open the chassis to remove them! This makes It better to leave those vehicles alone. In fact, the vehicle is contaminated with its own identity. Like with human beings, it is impossible to change our identity since we each have our own DNA. Taxis now also can have their own DNA simply by taking them to a DataDot fitment centres.

Recently Nissan South Africa gave DotaDot the go-ahead to fit all their vehicles sold locally with the dots products. Other Companies and government departments including Toyota (all Quantums), SA Police (all vehicles), Avis, and many others. There are now over 100 000 vehicles in South Africa that are dotted.

If you buy a new vehicle, ask the dealer to apply DataDot. It Is not expensive and there are no monthly payments!

So if you are a thief or a crooked parts dealer or hijacker do not steel taxis (or any other vehicles) that are fitted with DatoDot. These vehicles are useless to anyone but the original owner.

And If you own a taxi that is not dotted rush out now and ask for DataDot. It could save your life And your business!
