DataDot Technology South Africa (Pty) Ltd was established in 2000. Its shareholders include DataDot Technology Ltd and management. DataDot Technology Ltd is an Australian company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.

DataDot South Africa adheres to the strict criteria set down by the Vehicle Crime Steering Committee of South Africa. Their leadership in pursuing the establishment of a standardised global vehicle marking system is beginning to succeed.

DataDot South Africa will continue to work with and be guided by Business Against Crime in the system implementation to establish a world best practice. We adhere to the guidelines and criteria of the Vehicle Crime Project Office in its quest to curb vehicle crime.

What are DataDots?

• These are tiny particles also known as "microdots"
• Each particle is made of a high-tech polyester or metallic substrate which is either 0.5mm or 1mm in diameter.
• In the case of motor vehicles, the 17-digit VIN or chassis number is laser-etched onto each DataDot.
• 10 000 DataDots are applied to the vehicle with special adhesive
• The spray adhesive has UV additives providing easy identification of sprayed areas.
• Although locating the DataDots is easy, finding all of them for removal is virtually impossible.
